Frequently Asked Questions
The following information is provided to help
user with common problems.
1. Why can't I log into the Discussion Forum?
Problem: When you log into the
discussion board, the toast forum software
assigns session variable to your profile.
This is a common programming practice.
When we developed the company and landmen
directory, our web developer used a similar
technique when developing our own internal
applications.
We have noticed that if you login to the landmen
website, it can sometimes conflict with the
discussion forum variables. The simple way
to resolve any login problems is to clear your
session variable when moving from the
landmen.net web to the toast discussion forum.
Solution: A user needs to go to the homepage,
click on discussion forum link, and then click “I agree”. The “I agree”
hyperlink clears all session variables, when a
users goes to the discussion forum.
It is good practice to bookmark this page for
our discussion forum:
http://www.landmen.net/discussion/default.asp
If this doesn't work it is necessary to contact us and we have to delete the account in order
for the user to re-register using the same info as before.
2. Why doesn't my Job Posting show up in the *Now Hiring* or *Seeking
Work* section of the Job Bank?
Problem: When submitting a
resume or posting a job listing it is necessary
to turn your master display switch, under your
landman or company profile, to "display".
If this control is set to "do not display", your
information WILL NOT show up in the company or
landmen directory or job bank. This is to
protect your personal information.
Solution: Remember this
simple statement, "the master
profile display switch does it all". If you chose
"do not display"
your information will not be posted to the landman or company directory, and
your resume and/or job listing will not appear
in the Job Bank. EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE
RESUME AND/OR JOB LISTING SET TO DISPLAY, it
will not display unless the profile master
display switch is set to "Display". Once
again, this is to ensure that personal or
company information isn't displayed on our website
inadvertently.
3. Why do I get an error message when trying to post
my resume or job listing to the Job Bank?
Problem: SQL doesn't like the
use of the symbols, (above the number keys on
the keyboard). For example: !, @, #,
$, %, ^, &, *, (, ), /. The reason SQL doesn't like these symbols is the CPU
process these symbols; in this format, as code. The data gets parsed incorrectly causing
the form to fail.
Solution:
It is best to avoid symbols listed above.
If your resume or job listing entry fails, click
the BACK BUTTON on your web browser and look for
any symbols within the form. If you find a
symbol, remove it. Then attempt to submit
the form again.
